Tomorrow, I’m giving an online keynote for the Cambridge University Press Global Schools Festival. *waves to schools all around the world*! I said I’d put the handouts all in one handy place for you so here they are. Anyone is welcome to download them.
Note that this talk is only 30 minutes plus 15 for Q&A and in such a short time I can only bring you a tiny fraction of what I have to say. I’ve had to be very selective! I chose to focus on building understanding of what affects teenage brains as learners. I fully believe that understanding why is more than half the answer to how, so the strategies will start to become apparent as soon as you begin to understand the why. But I’ve also put all the strategies in the handouts.
First, the Powerpoint
And now your handouts
Here is a general handout pointing you towards other things: #1General event handout
Here is a folder of handouts for schools, including sheets of strategies and printable sheets for classrooms: For schools
Here are some posters for schools, beautifully designed to display lots of great advice: Tips posters for schools
I am also an expert on reading and the brain, particularly the value of reading for pleasure. Reading for pleasure is not a luxury: it’s essential to a brilliant learning brain! I have a folder of useful things
for you here, including resources on readaxation: Reading for pleasure
If you like the sound of what I talk about on the subject of teenage mental health, well-being and learning brains, why not choose some of my Teaching Materials so you can deliver the messages direct to your students, every year, forever?
