READERS’ ROOM: teenage and children’s author
Welcome to my NEW author website. Come in and make yourself at home.
Using the menu on the right, you can find background stuff about Wasted, Blame My Brain, Fleshmarket, Deathwatch, the Highwayman books, Chicken Friend, and some of my other books. You’ll also find information about my life, including some weird facts.
Interested in Mondays are Red and Sleepwalking? I’m delighted to tell you that Mondays are Red is now available as an ebook, with new extra material, including work my school pupils from St Laurence School in Wiltshire. I plan to publish Sleepwalking later. The ebooks are being published by Crabbit Publishing. (Which is actually me.)
You’ll find information about all my events, and how you can invite me to speak. I do a lot of school and festival events and I love being asked to speak at conferences for librarians or teachers. Do contact me.
I used to specialise in literacy and dyslexia and I’ve written dozens of home learning books. You’ll find those on the My Books page. That’s also where you’ll find something about my Thomas the Tank Engine books. But you don’t really want to know about my Thomas the Tank Engine books, do you? No, really, you don’t. That was the hardest writing work I have ever done. Seriously.
If you want to investigate me further, try the Media Room, where you’ll find links to interviews in newspapers and on websites, radio and video. But you might like these three videos now:
- A fantastic trailer for Mondays are Red, made by my daughter.
- A video my daughter made about my life as an author.
- My interview with Scottish Book Trust when Wasted was shortlisted for the Scottish Children’s Book Award.
I also help writers who are trying to become published. If you’re interested in that, visit the Writers’ Room. I’m going to add some tips for teenagers who are keen on writing.
If there’s anything else you want to know, just contact me. I don’t bite! (Except chocolate. Well, other food, too, obviously…)
