WRITERS’ ROOM: writing & publishing advice
The ruthlessly honest advice of my blog, Help! I Need a Publisher!, has earned me the title “Crabbit Old Bat”. In fact, if you try googling that phrase, you’ll see just how highly I am ranked in that respect…
I’ve had around 90 books published by various mainstream publishers, including Walker Books, Hodder and Egmont, after 21 years of failing to become published, and both those things are why I want to help other good, determined writers understand how to negotiate the hoops and hurdles towards that elusive goal: publication with a good publisher.
But I have also begun to self-publish, because there are times when that can work very well for writers. (And times when it doesn’t.) I have recently set up my own publishing venture, Crabbit Publishing. At first, I am only publishing my own titles, but one day I hope to publish other works.
I run my own writers’ consultancy, Pen2Publication, assessing manuscripts and providing the utterly honest and professional feedback that writers need.
Details of all those things can be found on the menu on the right.
